Mass General Hospital accepts Suad's case!

We are very pleased to share that Mass General Hospital has accepted Suad’s case. Suad is currently an outpatient and receives treatment on a daily basis at the hospital in India. The most pressing concern at this time is her eyes and this exciting news really installs confidence in her knowing that she’ll be in the hands of some of the best and well-equipped doctors in America.

As you can see on her most recent photo, Suad still cannot see. She needs extensive reconstruction work in the areas on her face and eyes, and would need much more financial support once she comes to Boston. We are currently working on her visa application process. She keeps a positive attitude despite of all the apprehension. She continues to draw strength from everyone’s generosity and believes that her future is brighter than her current situation. Let us continue to raise awareness for Suad and urge everyone to consider donating. Thank you very much everyone for your continuous support and prayers!

Suad's Surgery Update

Post Surgery
Here is a quick update on Suad's health. She underwent a surgical procedure creating new eyelids since the acid completely disfigured her eyes (acid connected both eyelids into one body tissue as shown in the figure). Her doctor in New Delhi was able to successfully create new eyelids for her using a reconstructive surgical procedure. Now she is in stable condition.

We are aiming to bring her here in Boston at Mass Eye & Ear hospital for quality medical treatments, particularly her sight and later at the Shriner’s hospital for reconstructive surgery. She has a long way to go as there are no quick medical solutions to her condition, but if we all work together, we can at least take the financial burden off her shoulders. With your continuous support, we can raise substantial funds to cover her medical expenses.

Suad cannot see right now, but she is aware of the generosity and compassion of the public. Her spirit is full of hope and she is conveying this message to those who donated and wanted to see her regain her normal life.

"I cannot express in words how ordinary people took on extraordinary step hoping to see me to regain my sight and normal life.”

In our collective effort, we can give Suad hope and make her wishes come true. Suad needs your help and please encourage your loved ones to donate. Thank you so much for your continuous support and prayers!

Update on Suad's Health

Suad got her bandage changed on 10/03/2015
First, Suad was admitted to Apollo Hospital in New Delhi, India. She was managed conservatively with IV antibiotics and IV fluids.  Then she underwent debridement and split skin grafting of raw areas of her face including eyelids, chest, right hand, and forearms.

Currently, she is in stable condition. Through your support we hopefully will be able to get her in the care of specialized burn centers such as Mass Eye and Ear and Shriner’s hospital in Boston, Suad needs major reconstructive surgical procedures and as you know the expertise and technology in Mass General Hospital and Shriner’s are far more superior to those in India.

You can make difference and please continue to send your prayers. Let us alleviate her pain and suffering together so that she can reclaim her sight and semblance of her normal life!

Thank you very much for your continuous support!

Please Support Suad

Hi Everyone,

We created this blog to help raise awareness for Suad, a young girl, who was viciously attacked by a man. The perpetrator threw a copious amount of acid on her face acid which significantly burned her face, neck, chest, and shoulders. Suad taken to medical professionals and eye specialists all over Kenya, but unfortunately no one was capable of treating her significantly burned skin including her precious eyes. As a result, she was transferred to a hospital in New Delhi, India where she is currently fighting for her life.

Suad
is an orphan girl whose father was killed during the Somali civil war when she was about two months old and has been under the care and protection of her beloved mother ever since. They escaped the brutal civil war in Somalia her home country that had driven close to 2 million refugees to neighboring country Kenya. To feed and educate her daughter the mother did any and all jobs. Consequently, Suad grew up, finished high school and became the right hand of her mother and eventually the bread winner of her family.

Suad needs major reconstructive surgical procedures and her family is desperately needs help so she can continue to receive medical treatment. We set up gofund me page for Suad and her family is incredibly touched by everyone’s generosity, support, and prayers. We need everyone’s help to continue raise funds for Suad. Please continue to spread the word and may your outpouring support and love be some indication that good can overcome evil. Please click this to donate https://www.gofundme.com/ru5cjwj8
